The Studio
Voice Teaching Philosophy
In my studio, I love to make geeky vocal technique talk fun and easy to digest. My goal is to inspire my students to reach beyond having a basic understanding of physiological vocabulary and, instead, discover how this terminology is applied to their unique voice and can help them conquer vocal faults. We will explore topics like body alignment, tension, articulation, breath pressure/flow, registration, mixed voice/belt and resonance to expand your versatility and stamina as a singer. I aim to help my students develop a strong foundation in these components to create a self-sufficient singer.
Song Coaching Philosophy
As a performer myself, I know how challenging it can be to get out of your head and trust your instincts. I train artists to become confident and grounded in their technique, allowing them the freedom to focus on storytelling in their material. I find it crucial to combine acting intentions and movement in technical exercises. I encourage honest moment to moment song performance and I believe the ability to use one’s voice is a powerful tool to serve tactics and objectives as an actor.
Wrapping it Up
I am a firm believer in creating a judgement-free environment that leads to an open mindset that is available to try sounds your voice has never produced before. Dare to fail. You may learn more from a swanky voice crack than from singing a beautiful note. Building new, flexible coordination is essential to your progress as a singer. Be humble to explore new techniques, while embracing what makes your voice special and unique, and discover the infinite possibilities that your voice can produce.
